$1.16 Billion Exits from Bitcoin ETFs, Bitwise Has a Different Opinion
Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. recorded a net outflow of $1.16 billion over three trading days. Bitwise Asset Management attributes this trend to a short-term risk-off environment rather than a lasting change in institutional investors' outlook. The outflow of $116 million on Tuesday marked the third consecutive session of capital outflows, although it was lower than the two days prior. The capital outflow from Bitcoin ETFs was $643 million on Friday and $399 million on Monday. The total net outflow from these funds since the beginning of 2026 has reached approximately $153 million. Andrei Dragosh, Head of Research at Bitwise, stated that the company's analysis of 15 institutions shows that none reduced their investments in Bitcoin ETFs during the bear market. He added that U.S. regulatory documents indicate that most institutional investor groups, except for hedge funds, have largely maintained their positions. Following the $6.3 billion hack of Binance, concerns about the security of asset custody in cryptocurrency ETFs have been raised. Dragosh emphasized that this attack targeted Binance's hot wallets, while the assets of institutional funds are held in cold storage and offline at Coinbase Custody.
