Bank of America: October Rate Hike by the Fed Could Be the Biggest Boost for U.S. Stocks
Bank of America strategist Michael Hartnett believes that if the Federal Reserve raises interest rates in October, it will become the biggest boost for risk assets and U.S. stocks. Hartnett pointed out that if the Fed does not raise rates, bond investors will demand higher term premiums, leading to an increase in long-term yields and a tightening of financial conditions. Conversely, if the Fed proactively raises rates, it will signal a commitment to curbing inflation, stabilizing long-term yields, and the short-term impact of the rate hike may be less damaging than the disorderly fluctuations in the bond market.
