Kakao Pay Announces Plans to Utilize Tokenized Assets
Kakao Pay has presented tokenized assets that can be used for global investments, following its use of the Korean won stablecoin for payments and remittances. The company plans to integrate AI autonomous payments, overseas remittances, and tokenized assets centered around the Kakao Super Wallet. According to the 'Q3 2026 Earnings Presentation Materials' released on the 3rd, Kakao Super Wallet is envisioned as an integrated wallet that connects various digital asset services based on authentication, security, currency exchange, payment, remittance, settlement, and digital asset custody functions. Kakao Pay aims to implement this as a wallet that anyone can easily use. Use cases for digital assets include AI agent-based autonomous payments, global P2P remittances, K-content fandom purpose-restricted tokens, and global investment tokenized assets. In particular, global investment tokenized assets demonstrate the potential to expand the existing use of stablecoins, which are focused on payments and remittances, into the investment sector. However, Kakao Pay did not disclose specific investment targets, product structures, or service launch schedules.
