Leon Wankum Predicts Bitcoin Will Outgrow Real Estate Market
Leon Wankum asserts that Bitcoin will not only surpass the real estate market, valued at 300 trillion to 500 trillion dollars, but will also outgrow it. In a discussion on the Bitcoin Magazine Podcast, Wankum explains that real estate became recognized as money only after 1971, with 80% to 90% of its value stemming from monetary premium rather than utility. He argues that this premium is shifting to Bitcoin, similar to how information transitioned to the internet. Wankum presents a base case of 1,000 trillion dollars for Bitcoin, projecting a price of 1 million dollars by the late 2030s, and suggests that it is now more financially prudent to rent and invest in Bitcoin. Key topics discussed include the historical context of real estate as money, the comparative growth rates of Bitcoin and real estate, and the implications of Bitcoin's volatility for collateral.
